Looking After Yourself While The World Self-Isolates

Mrs Silver Surfer and I are two of the many people that are currently social distancing. We know it is an uncertain time for many people and you have to do what is best for you. For us that is staying at home as much as possible, cancelling non-essential trips and socialising. We recognise that staying at home for long periods of time while everyone self-isolates can be tough, so here are some things you can do to pass the time!

Have a Sort Out

We all live busy lives which means that sometimes things we need to do at home can go by the wayside. If you’re well but self-isolating then why not use this time to have a de-clutter? I bet there are lots of things are in your home that you have been putting off and could get on with. Use this time to get some of these jobs ticked off your to-do list.

Cook Some Fun Things

Cooking is so fun! This is especially fun if you have children who are stuck at home. Things like marshmallow crispie cakes (melt some marshmallows in the microwave, mix in Rice Krispies and let it set – they’re delicious) and home-made pizzas are incredibly easy to make – and get the kids involved too!

If you usually find you don’t have lots of time to cook, why not use this time to batch cook some items for your freezer? This will make life much easier in the long-run and your family will have tasty meals to eat, especially good if get sick and don’t feel like cooking.

Find Something New To Watch

Is there something you have been meaning to watch but not found the time to do? Now is the time to make the most of this and catch up on things you wish to watch! As much it is great to be productive during this time you do have to make sure you look after yourself too. If that means spending some time on the sofa watching TV you’ve been missing out on – then do it!

Look After Yourself

It really is important to look after yourself during this time. Social distancing is something that all of us should be doing as much as possible, especially if you are someone vulnerable. Reach out to friends and family to make sure everyone is doing okay while the word self-isolates. If you’re feeling lonely, reach out to others and ask for help. Have a bath, pamper yourself, open those chocolates you’ve been saving for a special occasion.. .whatever it takes to keep yourself happy and healthy.

Look after yourself during this time, stay safe as everyone self-isolates and only read official news announcements as we have seen lots of untrue information and advice floating around Facebook and this will make things worse.
