So, as everyone in the world knows we have been hit by this new pandemic called Covid19 and the UK has been put into “lockdown” with all but essentional business closed and most people confined to their houses.
Sadly the thought of imminent lockdown caused an outbreak of panic buying and very quickly shelves were stripped of stock and all the major stores no longer had any online slots for either deliver or “Click and Collect” orders.
Luckily Morrisons came up with a novel idea of offering a fixed price “Morrisons Food Box“, which for £35 offered you basic groceries delivered to your door.
We were already running short of items and heeding the lock down instructions by staying indoors so the idea of a food box was a very welcome one so we quickly placed an order for delivery on 29th March, lucky we did as the boxes soon sold out which just shows the demand was outstripping supply. We ordered the “Meat” version however a vegetarian version is also available.
The box was delivered this afternoon by DPD who left the box on our doorstep as requested so we didn’t have to open our door to accept a delivery.
The contents of the box was a very welcome surprise and largely it was a good selection for most people and would keep two adults fed for a week with a bit of imagination.
The actual contents when added up was probably just under £30 but considering the current situation £35 was good value and definitely a massive help to us!
Here’s what was in the box:
4 x Toilet Rolls
2 Kitchen Rolls
Sliced Load of Bread
Microwave Long Grain Rice
Tinned Baked Beans
2 Tins Of Soup
Pack of Bacon
2 Chicken Breasts
1 Litre Milk
Pack of Butter
Cathedral City Cheese
Thanks Morrisons for helping us to keep going in these extraordinary times!
