After a quiet Christmas at home we decided to treat ourselves to a 3  night “Twixmas” break at Britannia Hotels Beautiful Bosworth Hall, near Market Bosworth in Warwickshire.

The journey down was very foggy but we arrived safely and managed to park quite close to the entrance, luckily there is plenty of parking on site, Just ensure that you log your vehicle details in reception to avoid a ticket!

Check in was relatively easy although we had to request a room change due to mobility issues, it’s worth noting that there are a lot of stairs in this property and no wheelchair access to certain areas at all (including the restaurant and the entertainment room). In fairness reception moved our room allocation within 20 minutes to a room with lift access.

The room itself was great, very spacious with ensuite toilet and bath with shower over, tea and coffee making facilities (only 2 coffee pods though for a 3 day break!), large screen TV together with a full size fridge and very nicely decorated throughout, the only thing lacking was a luggage stand for suitcase etc, even though there was ample room for one. The radiator in the room was turned off but once turned up soon warmed the room.

Britannia’s Twixmas break package included 3 course meal each evening and Breakfast each morning.

We made our way to the restaurant on the first evening to find the tables nicely decorated for Christmas but were left a bit disappointed after find that drinks were not served in the Restaurant area meaning you had to go to the bar to fetch drinks back to the table. Dinner was self service and there are some steps up to the food area with no disabled access at all. Our first night was Friday and following a secleion of starters (Soup, salad Pate etc) the main option was fish & chips with mushy peas, we found this to be a bit lacklustre as it was plainly frozen fish with frozen chips. dessert was a selection of cakes or a peach and apple crumble with pouring cream. Dinner was adequate but not exciting!

After our meal we opted to check out the evening entertainment and started following the signs pointing the way, It turned out that the entertainment location was a considerable distance from the restaurant down several long corridors and had to negotiate several stairs with no options available for less mobile customers. The entertainment room was large but not very populated and offered a bar (card payments only) and plenty of seating on large tables. The room was nicely decorated and the entertainment (solo singer) was “ok” but not very lively. We didn’t stay for more than an hour or so and decided to go back to our room, at which point another customer told us there was actually a lift but that all the doors on the floor below were locked. We located a staff member and he kindly showed us the route back to the main hotel which involved going down one floor in the lift and the somewhat bizarrely going outsize, walking round a badly lit area of decking, then finding another door which took us inside and back down the maze of corridors to the main reception.

Next morning we made our way to the restaurant for your breakfast and actually were really pleased with the offering (all self service) there were plenty of Cereals, Cooked options, Toast, Croissants etc.

Have enjoyed a fully nice breakfast we had a wander around the hotel and found a delightful room to sit in with plenty of space to relax and read our kindles 🙂

The following 2 days of our stay followed much the same pattern and our evening meals included chicken Tika with Rice (really nice) and Chicken Diane with Roast potatoes and mixed veg.

Overall we enjoyed our “Twixmas” 3 night stay at Bosworth hall and it was good value. The whole hotel was fully decorated for Christmas with trees and lights everywhere, the reception staff were polite, friendly and efficient. It was pretty good value for money, partly thanks to a generous £32 cashback offer from Quidco. The only thing that will stop us returning is the poor disability access throughout the property which is a shame as it really is a beautiful property and really wouldn’t need huge efforts to make it a much more comfortable site to visit for those with restricted mobility.
